Kanye, Common And Lupe Surprise Concert At Chicago High School
On Tuesday (June 8th), rappers Kanye West, Common and Lupe Fiasco headlined an exclusive concert for students of Chicago’s most reformed high school. The students of Farragut Career Academy sent eardrums throbbing as the kids were shocked as the three hip-hop superstars took the stage for a V.I.P performance.
Tuesday’s performance marks the end of a third year of competition for Chicago schools challenged by violence and dizzyingly high dropout rates. Farragut, which officials said was the most reformed, beat out six other schools to win this year’s contest, co-sponsored in part by Chicago Public Schools and the foundation started by West’s late mother, Donda West, a Chicago State University professor.
The hip-hop stars also took to the stages at John Marshall Metro and Percy L. Julian high schools on the same day.
